Description

Best In Show Whiskey San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2017

The name says it all. This is our biggest, most profound whiskey for the Boss Hog in all of us. This VIIth. edition of The Boss Hog, The Magellan, is a tribute to the great spirits of Europe. This is the first Rye Whiskey ever finished in Armagnac casks, straight from France. The result is extraordinary. A fine balance between American power and French sophistication. There’s nothing else like it.

Inspired by Magellan and the first recorded circumnavigation of the earth, the new member of The Boss Hog family is a pioneer in its own right. This experimental rye whiskey is the first and only to be finished in both new Spanish oak casks from the mountainous forest of Northern Spain and South American Teakwood casks from Brazil — two rare casks that are both hard to come by and risky to use. The combination gives the 17-year-old straight rye whiskey a powerfully aromatic nose and complex flavor that's worth the expedition. Like previous editions of The Boss Hog before it, it's bottled at cask strength, highly limited, and presented with a handmade pewter topper as collectible as the whiskey itself.
