Description

92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar - Good full red. Perfumed aromas of red berries, clove and pepper. Dense, spicy and intense, with brisk acidity giving the wine verve and delicacy and extending the flavors. Has a sappy juicy quality. Relies more on its acids than its fairly light tannins for structure. Don't think of Lodi as a uniformly hot area, says winemaker Jordan, pointing out that these vines were harvested later than the overwhelming majority of Napa Valley zinfandel in 2000.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - The 2000 Zinfandel Dogtown (16.2% alcohol) is a huge effort. It is not as complex as some of its siblings, but it offers copious amounts of straightforward berry fruit intermixed with balsam wood, earth, and spice characteristics.
