The 2015 vintage was early and exciting. Record breaking dry weather marked the winter months. Warm spring temperatures led to earlier than normal bud break. Drought conditions were relieved by storms in late February and early March, which coincided perfectly with vines coming out of dormancy. The remainder of the spring and summer were slightly hotter than normal with very few heat spikes and only three days with highs in the triple digits. This set the state for ideal ripening conditions and wonderful flavor development in the berries. The first of our Napa Valley fruit from our Soda Canyon Ranch vineyard arrived at the winery on August 28. Harvest continued at a moderate pace, and the last grapes were harvested on September 29. While mother nature made her voice heard with the continued drought, the 2014 vintage proved to be otherwise manageable with conditions rife for producing wines of exceptional quality.
