Description

This elegantly balanced wine is deep and dark with a magenta hue. Aromas of blackberry, cassis and black cherry combine seamlessly with sweet notes of milk chocolate, vanilla and tobacco. The palate is ripe and soft, with pronounced black cherry and a hint of cocoa powder. Lush tannins and sweet, subtle oak build on the palate for a long finish.

Blend: 94% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot

93 Wine Spectator - Pure and rich, focused on a supple core of licorice, dark berry, light cedar, fresh earth and savory herb flavors, ending with a long, smooth finish that keeps repeating the core fruit themes. Drink now through 2033.

Wine Enthusiast - Blended with 6% Petit Verdot, this wine is treated as a reserve-tier bottling. It delivers high-toned red fruit and plum notes dusted with spice and dried herb. It's robust in body and weight and long on the finish.
90 Points Decanter - A flamboyant nose redolent of rich black cherries in kirsch, complemented by vanilla on the palate. A satisfying palate with caressing tannins. This is a Cab with attitude.

90
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Diamond Selection is a blend of 94% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Petit Verdot. (I don’t believe the word “Diamond” in the title has anything to do with Diamond Mountain.) Supple textured and slightly softer than the Atlas Peak, with less obvious minerality but with more juicy blackcurrant and blackberry fruit, judiciously dosed with some attractive toasty oak, the wine is full-bodied, rather round, opulent, pleasurable and satisfying. The softness of the tannin and lush fruit suggest drinking it now and over the next 10-12 years.
