This fragrant Cabernet Franc exudes aromas of violets, raspberry preserves, leather and cigar box. Savory and sweet flavors of blueberry and plum give way to bacon, thyme and black pepper mid palate, and then finish with notes of toasty vanilla and cocoa. Supple tannins and a soft mouth feel wrap up into a complex and elegant wine.
81% Cabernet Franc, 16% Merlot, 2% Malbec, 1% Syrah
90 Points Connoisseurs Guide - Whether by vintage or by forceful Merlot, this bottling shows a bent towards the red cherry end of the varietal spectrum, and together with a fresh, bright quality to its fruit, comes up a bit zippier than its ripeness or its maker might suggest. It is, in fact, the highest that we have rated the winery's regular bottling Cabernet since the super-star 2007 vintage. It is, not surprisingly, full in body and carries a fair dose of firming tannin, but the energy that lifted its aromas is part and parcel of its palatal charms.
