Description

The legendary vineyard situated on the Oakville bench is farmed by both row and vine so we can endow the fullest expression of the site. Presenting an appearance of opaque purple color, enormous complexity and layered aromatics open with black raspberry, anise, and intonations of cigar leaf and savory tar. Wild blackberry and currant present a focused palate highlighted by mocha and dried thyme. The full-bodied texture and balanced acidity are surrounded by opulent and voluptuous tannins from start to finish making this a readily approachable wine that pleases the palate.

Consider complementing with duck confit cassoulet, steak frites with béarnaise, or spicy mussel cioppino. Serve at 50°-55° F.

98 Points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate - Deep purple-black in color, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard opens with seducing notes of crushed black currants, blueberry compote and dried mulberries with hints of spice cake, sandalwood, dried roses and star anise plus a touch of smoked meats. Full-bodied, rich, ripe and densely packed, the opulent fruit is superbly framed by velvety tannins and just enough freshness, finishing with lingering spice layers. 758 cases were made.

96 Points
James Suckling - Freshly picked blackberries, ivy, dark plums, licorice, citrus and orange rind. Full-bodied with lots of fruit but it's very tangy and nicely blended in the vibrant acidity and structured yet soft tannins. Citrusy on the finish. Drink in 2020.

92 Points
Wine Spectator - Plump and juicy, this wine transcends fruit purity to reveal elements of finesse and nuance. The best times lie ahead. Best from 2020 through 2032.
