Brilliant, intensive yellow is the color of our white blend Beyond the Clouds. In the nose, a complex, beguiling play of aromas unfurls with fruity nuances of exotic fruits such as pineapple, notes of blossoms and flowers, of rose petals and light toast aromas. Dense and complex, the wine enthuses on the palate: with fullness and structure, creamily soft and elegant, stimulatingly fresh and juicy with a discreetly incorporated, modest note of wood and a long reverberation of taste.
93 Points Wine Advocate - This is always a special wine that you can immediately recognize in a blind tasting. The 2016 Alto Adige Beyond The Clouds is Chardonnay with other semi-aromatic varieties blended within. This vintage is indeed more subdued and less aromatic compared to past editions, in my opinion. This wine gives greater emphasis to the yellow fruit found in abundance at its core and the delicate mineral notes that add overall sharpness and focus to the bouquet. The wine fans out evenly over the palate with a creamy, mid-weight texture that should hold steady for the next five to ten years. All the fruit comes from various single-vineyard sites and is harvested on the same day. It continues to fermentation as the finished cuvée. After fermentation, it undergoes three months of weekly bâtonnage and is later aged in French oak for ten months. Some 14,000 bottles were produced.
92 Points Wine & Spirits - This chardonnay-dominant wine is loaded with ripe flavors of golden apple, mango and litchi accented in warm spices, yet it stays dry and crisp, riding that fine balance to a long and refreshing finish. The wine ferments and ages in new French oak barriques, adding richness in the form of smoke and toasted nut flavors. It could use another year in the cellar for those oak-driven notes to integrate.
