This wine is made from Pinot Noir and named after the village of Vougeot in Burgundy. It comes from a special vineyard with Premier Cru status (one level below Grand Cru) called Les Petits Vougeots. It has vibrant aromas of red cherry with silky licorice notes and flavors of raspberry jam and cedar.. Handpicked harvest, then crushed and de-stemmed. First fermentation for 20-25 days in stainless steel tanks. Second fermentation for 2-6 months in French barrels, 100% malolactic. Maturation during 15-18 months on fine lees in French oak: 25% new oak, 35% 1 year old barrels, 30% 2-3 year old barrels and 10% 4-5 year old barrels.
