A deep red colour reminiscent of ripe plums with good depth. A spicy smell, balanced with plums and cherries together with some vanilla tones. Sharp acidity with a fresh mouth-feel and long finish. The tannins are quite harsh but are well-balanced with fruits and berries like cherries, blackcurrants and spices. “Bright medium ruby. Musky cassis, plum and dark chocolate on the nose, lifted by minty and mineral nuances. Fine-grained and firm in the mouth, with a restrained sweetness to its black raspberry and smoky mineral flavors; conveys an impression of strong extract. Nicely integrated acidity extends the finish, which features chewy, ripe tannins and excellent lift.” International Wine Cellar, 90 Points
Matt Kramer, Editor of The Wine Spectator has said of the Mendel, "This is a Malbec for those whom classified-growth Bordeaux is the benchmark. It's that refined - and that good."
