Product Notes:
Soft pink in color, this refreshing wine features pleasing aromas of berries, slight spice and floral notes on the nose as flavors of raspberry and strawberry commingle on the palate. A touch of citrus and spice lead to crisp acidity that highlights floral back notes as the wine finishes with fruit to the end.

 About Estate:
Named after Amparo Grange, lady of the Manor House at Stags’ Leap from 1941 to 1955, this wine embodies her style for gracious living and love of life, family and friends.
A personal affection for the classic dry roses of Tavel in the Southern Rhône inspired Winemaker Kevin Morrisey to craft his first Stags’ Leap Rosé in 2005. He has enjoyed making small lots of Rosé from many different varietals throughout his winemaking career, but with the Stags’ Leap Amparo he has firmly committed to a time-tested and sustainable style made from Grenache grown on a hot stony plateau in Calistoga at the north end of the Napa Valley. “Each year this Grenache is blended into our Petite Syrah blend, but it’s also the perfect varietal for the likes of a dry crisp and fruity Rosé, so I steal a little for this special wine each year.”
Having worked with many Rhône varietals in many different areas of the valley, Morrisey knew that the grapes from one particular block would make a beautiful Rosé. Whole cluster pressed, the wine was cold fermented in older neutral French oak barrels, and malolactic fermentation was inhibited to capture the natural fresh acidity from the grapes and preserve the delicate fruit flavors of the varietal. The wine was aged on the lees for six months before bottling in April.
In 2006, growing conditions during harvest were absolutely perfect, making it a standout vintage. Due to a cool start, we experienced a late bud break which we thought would delay harvest by several weeks. However, warm temperatures during the summer months accelerated ripening and contributed to the exotic fruit flavors and aromas in this perfect picnic wine.
