About Tequila
Tequila is made with "pinas" of the Blue Agave plant. These plants grow natively in the state of Jalisco, Mexico. When Agave is harvested, the leaves are cut off, and the pina is dug from the ground. The pinas are then cooked and mashed. The mash is then fermented. Most tequilas are twice distilled, then aged, then bottled.

There are 3 basic types of Tequila: Silver (Or unaged), Reposado (Aged up to one year), and Anejo (Aged for 1-3 years). Sometimes you'll find "Extra Anejo" Tequila, aged for more than 3 years.

Fascinating factoid: Tequilas are never bottled with worms. "Tequila" with a worm in the bottle is actually a similar beverage made from Agave known as Mezcal.

Aged tequilas are generally more complex and mellow, and are perfect for savoring. Silver tequilas are perfect for adding to cocktails.
