Tamdhu Fine Single Malt: Tamdhu means 'little dark hill' in gaelic The old railway station at Knockando became the visitor centre at Tamdhu Distillery. Until Macallan joined the Highland distillers group, that companyĘs principal bottled Speyside malt was Tamdhu. Tamdhu has a sizable and impressive Saladin maltings, providing for all its own needs and those of several other whisky makers. A modest reminder of this is the stylized ear of barley that appears on the label of the principal version of Tamdhu.
Lightly perfumed: fondant icing, sweet cereal, apricot jam, clove, almost like a light gold rum. Drier and grassier with water. Silky. Nut and vanilla. Dries nicely in the middle. Flowers and spiciness on the back palate.
