From a vineyard bathed in cold ocean fog and benefitting from a patch of rare alluvial soil the 2007 Carneros Pinot Noir has an explosive bouquet of red plums, sour black cherries, and lilac. The attack displays the winemaker's deft hand with whole cluster fermentation-a dual between the sweetness of 07 Pinot fruit and the savory of herbaceous stems. Mouthwatering!

 About Estate:
A coastal, hillside vineyard in Carneros near the Napa/Sonoma county line where soils are light, alluvial and provide very little water holding capacity. Located a few miles from San Francisco Bay, the vines are routinely bathed in fog during the summer months. A cool, true maritime microclimate ideally suited to pinot noir.

Pinot Noir is one of the most versatile wines to pair with food. It goes great with all types of meat including poultry and seafood. Pinot Noir will also pair wondefully with sweet, spicy, and umami (protein, savory) foods.

About Varietal:
Pinot Noir traditionally grows in the cool Burgundy region of France. Many attempts have been made to grow this grape elsewhere--with mixed results. In some regions of California, Oregon and Washington, this grape flourishes, and produces wines of great complexity and smoothness.
