Product Notes:
This is the fifth Syrah from Cafaro Cellars and is 100% estate grown grapes from our Cafaro Family Vineyard. Complete control over the growing and cultivation of the grapes gives us complete control over the wine style and quality of our wines. Many Syrah producers from France, Australia, and California blend a small amount of another grape to add complexity and length to the Syrah. We believe that Petit Verdot adds this spicy complexity to our Syrah. We are very please and excited with our 2004vintage Syrah. It is not only an exciting vintage but also showcases the high quality level and potential of our Cafaro Family Vineyard.

The 2004 Cafaro Napa Valley Syrah is deep, rich, dark and very complex. At the same time it is elegant with balanced complexity to go with many dishes. The oak and grape tannins are in perfect harmony with the youthful Syrah aromas. The 2004 Syrah finishes long and multi-layered. From the Winemaker

About Estate:
Passionate about making elegant, balanced wines of classic proportions, Cafaro Cellars� goal is to create wines that are graceful and worthy of aging. The Cafaro Family Vineyard, a 15-acre vineyard in the eastern hills south of the Stags� Leap appellation, was developed in 1996. The hillside location is at an elevation of 600 feet, and soil depth in the vineyard ranges between 18 and 30 inches. Vines are exposed to the southwest and receive strong sun exposure from first light until late afternoon. As a result fruit generally ripens early in the season. In fact, Cafaro Family Vineyard harvests grapes on average 5 to 10 days before neighboring vineyards�a distinct advantage in cooler vintages. After many years of making wine in the Napa Valley, Joe Cafaro was particularly pleased to be able to acquire a vineyard with these specific characteristics, which he believes are essential for encouraging the concentrated red wines aromas, flavors and finish that are the hallmarks of his winemaking style. In his own words, � In selecting, developing and harvesting our own vineyard, we are taking a very holistic approach to winemaking � one that allows us to have maximum control over both the style and flavors of every case we produce.�

The vineyard is planted to the four major grape varieties of Bordeaux�Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. There are also a few acres of Syrah. The first harvest took place in 1999, and today the Cafaro Family Vineyard is the sole source of fruit for all of the wines produced by Cafaro Cellars.

Food Pairing:
Syrah goes well with red meats, spicy pizzas, herbed sauces on red meat, turkey.

Perhaps no other grape uses two names quite as interchangeably as Syrah, called Shiraz in many countries. It is not uncommon for two wineries in the same district to use differing terms � or in some cases, for the same winery to label one wine a Syrah and
