It is fruit-forward and supple on the palate, with well-defined cherry, red plum and rose flavors quietly supported by vanilla and forest bark hints. The flavors linger and it grows silkier as it airs, making it a graceful companion to a wide variety of foods. Mario Perelli-Minetti 100% Napa Valley Cabernet 750m (2 bottles) -$ 22.00This wine was created from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon fruit from the hills of Napa Valley, 75% from Pope Valley and 25% from Atlas Peak. Combined together this fruit creates a rich and well-balanced wine with fort nuances of chocolate, dark berries, and spice that coat the tongue from top to bottom. this wine was aged for 26 months in a combination of French and American oak barrels. This is a high powered wine with layers of oak and tannins. "This by far is our best value wine, you can't go wrong with this Cab." --Andrew Perelli-Minetti Gold Medal Winner, San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition, and Gold medal in North of the Gate Wine Competition. 2650 cases were produced. 2005 Avalon Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 750mL ( 2 bottles) -$15.98From Robert Parker's "Value Issue": "This was a pleasant discovery during my recent tastings for this value report. The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa is a blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Syrah, Merlot, and Petite Sirah. Its dark ruby/plum color is followed by sweet aromas of black currants, smoke, damp earth, licorice, and spice. Medium-bodied and pure with silky tannins as well as a surprisingly long finish, it should drink well for 5-8 years. It has been at least twenty years since I have had a Napa Cabernet this good for under $16 a bottle." (08/08) Avalon makes only Cabernet, one dirt cheap wine with a generic "California' name place, another, well...pretty close to dirt cheap Cab sourced from a variety of Napa Valley appellations. Just Cabernet, so it's lucky for them (and for us) that they handle this favorite grape so very well. The 2005 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is silky and ripe, with layers of cassis fruit and just a smidgen of both oak and tannin. Hwak Crest Cabernet ( 2 bottles) -$16.99
Crafted to express the diversity of Napa's soils and microclimates, this blend offers the distinctive varietal character for which the appellation has become famous.
Big and rich, this is a truly expressive Napa Cabernet. Rich chocolate with blueberry and raspberry notes, subtle hints of tobacco and leather and the classic dust & berry you find on the nose of most Napa Cabernets 2005 Ryhan Estate Vineyards ( 2 bottles) - $22.00An exotic, spicy nose of cranberry, plum, and boysenberry; with hints of cedar and mint. The mouth has intense, jammy flavors of ripe berries, cherry, cassis, and sweet vanilla. Round tannins and bright acidity provide a lengthy finish of black pepper and red fruits last many years, but drinks well now.93Pts- WG Hayman & Hill Merlot Napa Valley 750ml( 2 Bottles)-$15.99"Smooth and dry, this Merlot seems designed to stand alongside food, rather than try and be a food group of its own. It has an earthy, herbaceous quality, with suggestions of cherries and red currants, and a rich scour of tannins. All that gives it a real Bordeaux quality."
