| Signorello "Vieilles Vignes" Chardonnay Napa Valley 2006|
92 POINTS - "Mineral peach skin, butter, vanilla, guava, melon, citrus aromas, with a honey, mineral streak. Rich, round, elegant, but crisp style, with good viscosity, but warm. Baked green apple, melon, citrus, spicy lees, nutty, butter, lemon and honey flavours, with a touch of bitter apple on the finish. A full, but austere, dry style with good aromatics and some big alcohol. It needs a year of 2 to settle down." - Anthony Gismondi, Wine Access, Dec. 2008 / Jan. 2009
90 POINTS - "Ripe banana peel aromas with clove and charred oak. Soft peach, minerals, oak and glazed pecan flavors. Drying minerals and fresh acidity punctuate the finish." - Wine News
"Here's the problem: so many superlatives, so little space. I loved the silky texture, beautiful integration of oak and fruit, excellent balance of ripe fruit and acidity and seemingly endless finish. If you can resist savoring (and finishing) this lush, highly refined wine as an aperitif, pair it with flavorful poultry or pork dishes." - John Vankat, Arizona Daily Sun, August 27th, 2008
This Chardonnay was grown exclusively on our estate vineyard located on the Silverado Trail in the Oak Knoll area. This shallow, rocky hillside vineyard planted in 1980 stressed the vines sufficiently during the growing season to ensure intense varietal character. We employed a variety of techniques in managing each vineyard's microclimate including vertical trellising, leaf removal and crop reduction.
