| 2007 Mount Eden Arroyo Seco Monterey County Chardonnay Monterey, California |
Product Notes: 2007 Mount Eden Arroyo Seco Monterey County Chardonnay is a delicious Chardonnay, but more than that, it's very nearly as good as the winery's classic Estate bottling, which costs more than twice as much. Shows real Chard character, a rich, creamy, dry wine with explosive flavors of pineapples, pears and peaches that tastes like they were baked into creme brulee." (02/09) -92 points Wine Enthusiast "Ripe, opulent and fleshy, with sweet pear, apple and melon fruit that's clean and refreshing, keeping the focus and emphasis on the fruitiness. Drink now through 2011. 1,400 cases made." (Tasting Highlights, Dec. 8, 2008) This is Mount Eden's first Arroyo Seco Chardonnay in 25 years. The fruit comes from Zabala Vineyards, planted on an ancient riverbed covered with cobblestones. The wine is fermented and aged in 2/3s new French and American oak and goes through complete malo, making this a rich, buttery wine with round tropical flavors and cedar box spice. Pure California chardonnay from start to finish. -90 points from Wine Spectator
